Certificate of Educational Studies in TESOL

This is an ACTDEC Level 2 programme and leads to Associate Teacher status.
This is a course for anyone seeking an excellent introduction to the world of TESOLThis modular course is designed to provide a thorough introduction to the theory and practice of teaching English to speakers of other languages and may be seen as an initial step on a modular pathway towards a more advanced TESOL qualification.
Who it's for: Keen gap-year students, teaching assistants, any ESOL teacher seeking a value-for-money course to hone their skills, anyone wishing to progress later to a level 3 or higher qualification.
The distance-training programme consists of twenty-three modules comprising the following five units:
- Study Skills
- Language Awareness
- The Practice of TESOL
- Writing Instructional Objectives, Lesson Planning and Preparation
- Practical Phonetics
This distance course takes approximately 150 hours to complete and leads to the Certificate of Educational Studies in TESOL. Holders of the certificate may use the ACTDEC Level 2 Associate Teacher of ESOL qualification title and the postnominal designation Cert.(ES)TESOL.

The Certificate of Educational Studies in TESOL is accredited by ACTDEC at Level 2.

Duration
No two people work at the same pace, have similar commitments or study time available. You can pace yourself and work as quickly as you wish or take as long as you need. The Pre-Cert.(ES)TESOL takes on average 150 hours to complete. With full-time study (16-20 hours weekly) it is possible to complete the programme in a month or less. On a purely part-time basis (9-12 hours weekly) the course can be completed in X to X weeks.
Assessment and Award of the Certificate
Examination is by continuous assessment of the worksheet assignments for each unit module. There are no written examinations.
Re-submission of unsatisfactory assignments for regrading (except the 'Sounds of English') is at the discretion of the unit tutor and Director of Examinations.
Award of the Certificate is restricted to those who successfully complete the course and all assessment assignments.
